Data & backups

Reset the app

Erase local data and start fresh — export first if you need a copy.

Reset app wipes data on this device — transactions, budgets, categories, app lock, notification preferences, and more. Use it when selling a phone or starting completely over.

Before you reset

Reset cannot be undone. Export anything you need first.

  1. Settings → Data
  2. Use Export encrypted backup, JSON, or CSV
  3. Store the file somewhere safe (not only on this phone)

See Backup & export.

Start reset

  1. Settings → Data
  2. Scroll to Reset app
  3. Read what will be cleared
  4. Type RESET when asked
  5. Check I understand this cannot be undone and I have exported anything I need
  6. Confirm

A progress screen runs while data is removed.

Cloud account

If you are signed in with cloud sync:

  • Reset clears this device
  • Server copy may remain until you delete entries or delete account
  • After reset, sync might re-download cloud data — sign out first if you want a truly empty start

After reset

The app behaves like a fresh install — privacy checkup, default categories, and empty Dashboard.

To restore: Import your backup or sign in and sync from cloud.
